1 Meet the Blue 6 Team and learn about their volunteer work to eradicate Sahara Mustard. From April to May 2013 their adventures involved yurts, bighorn sheep, high winds, community education, frog serenades, dark skies... and a whole lot of mustard-busting!

3 Blue 6 Team Leader Alicia d'Alessandro is 22 and is from upstate New York. She has a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and mass communication and a minor in political science from St. Bonaventure University, where she also played Division I soccer. She hopes to pursue a graduate program in non-profit management in Albany after her term of service as well as train for Bike and Build 2014: a cross-country bicycle trip, which raises money and awareness for affordable housing. She loves falling asleep each night with a view of the stars and the sounds of all the desert creatures.
4 Brandon Hampton is 24 years old and is from Blytheville, Arkansas. He graduated high school and attended Job Corps, which he graduated last March. He joined AmeriCorps to get more life experience and his favorite part of the desert is hiking the canyons.
5 Bree Kasman, gently holding a baby horned lizard on her glove, is 23 years old from Melrose Park, IL. She majored in Biology at Illinois Wesleyan University. She is currently applying to medical school and is hoping to attend Rosalind Franklin University this fall. Her favorite part about the desert is learning about the vast diversity of life.
6 Madison (Madi) Taylor-Hayden is 24 and recently graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with a collaborative degree in Social Work and Gender Studies. She hails from all across the United States: Austin, TX; Memphis, TN; Lincoln, NE; Florence, SC; Wausau, WI; and Minneapolis, MN. Her next adventure will be in Santa Fe, NM working with homeless youth! Her favorite part about the desert is all the wildlife (that doesn't include insects).
7 Nicholas Theetge is 19 years old and from Ovid New York and graduated high school at South Seneca in 2011. After AmeriCorps, he will be attending college back in New York at Finger Lakes Community College. His favorite part of the desert is the lizards.
8 Rob Schneider is 22 years old and from the city of Onalaska, WI. Before joining AmeriCorps, Rob graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a double major in Political Science and Public Administration. His post-AmeriCorps plans include taking a year off to work before going to graduate school for a Masters in Student Affairs in Higher Education. His favorite thing about this project is being able to see the constellations and other cosmic objects at night.
9 Ryan Gugerty is 22 and recently graduated from St. Mary's College of Maryland with a degree in Film and Photography. He is from Annapolis, MD. After AmeriCorps NCCC Ryan will be serving with City Year in Boston. His favorite part of the desert is exploring the canyons and encountering wildlife
10 Sadie Ditler is 19 years old who has lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Sadie joined AmeriCorps right after graduating high school to gain experience in service before furthering her education. She plans to learn more about environmental preservation after a second term of AmeriCorps. For now, she’ll especially enjoy the raging heat of the desert sun.
11 Trevor Craker is 19 years old from New York City. He graduated from Hampton Bays High School in June of 2012 and is serving in Americorps NCCC as a gap year before attending Santa Barbara City College in the fall. He will focus on environmental studies and hopes to be an environmental scientist in one of California's state parks. He also loves hiking in the Borrego Palm Canyon!
